Restrict Modalizer to MooTools? 1 Year, 11 Months ago
Hello, Mr. Westen!

Have been trimming the fat from my script- and image-bloated website, which is based upon a RocketTheme template, which includes RokBox, another nifty modal popop generator like Modalizer. Unlike Modalizer, however, it has some serious limitations. For instance I cannot use it to 'catch' links with a particular target or class. So I'm keeping Modalizer, even though it seems to require that ancient release of JQuery, instead of the the native Joomla! 1.5 MooTools 1.1.2.
Hence my question:
Can we get Modalizer weaned off of the JQuery? I seem to remember reading somewhere in the Documentation that Modalizer 'sniffs' around for its JS environment, but cannot for the life of me find where that was in the Docs.
Could you please relate that information to me in this forum or direct me to the particular info otherwise? And, could you perhaps work with me in configuring Modalizer to utilize MooTools exclusively, number one, to eliminate some of the pesky conflicts that old release of JQuery is creating, and number two, to help drop some weight off of my website for the sake of the bandwidth it hogs?
You will find in me a quick study - I pick up concepts pretty quickly and have had great success in otherwise modifying other aspects of Joomla!, both PHP and JS, I just don't have the background to be able to make my proposed changes without some clue or hint at the direction I need to be headed to do so.
Thank you very much for your kind attention,
Scott Erwin Gregory

Some modal types use mootools, some use jquery. So it depends on which one you use which script gets loaded.
Fancybox and Highslide use jquery, the others mootools.

Using multiple extensions that rely on their own mootools script can (mostly will) cause conflicts. If so, you can try to turn of the mootools inclusion in the Modalizer plugin settings (last options). This will sometimes help resolve the conflict.

Hello again, Mr. Westen!
I appreciate very greatly the promptness of your reply to my query!
Your news, however, SUCKS! I am dedicated to the 'FancyBox' style modal windows, and I absolutely refuse to change, LOL!
Seriously, though, I completely misinterpreted the notations regarding JavaScript libraries in the Modalizer backend, assuming (completely incorrectly) that I had a choice, not comprehending for a moment that different Modal styles required specific JS libraries.
I give plentiful and glad KUDOS to you nonetheless, on your very functional, and otherwise lightweight and utilizable Joomla! extension.
On another note, I was saddened to see that there was someone other than yourself administering your fantabulous FrontPagePlus extension. When someone adopts an older child, there always seems to be a lack of a natural parent's depth of care and attention. I hope they do your brilliant idea justice...
Thanks again,
Scott Erwin Gregory

The reason Frontpage Plus has been adopted by someone else is because I was a bad parent for it. I know you should never say, but FPP was my least favorite child. Therefor it did not get the attention it deserved and was left untouched for months and months.

GeoXeo seemed to have a feeling for FFP and invested time to make it develop. I even caught FFP calling GeoXeo 'daddy' and that was reason enough to question my parenthood. I hope GeoXeo will be a better father and carer for FPP.

PS: Modalizer is now the child craving the most attention but not getting it. See changelog:
