Is this possible? Use Modalizer to display plain plain HTML text. example

No, Modalizer is created to open pages (links) in modal windows.
Depending on the modal type you use, you could call on other functions within the included script. But that is not functionality of Modalizer itself.
If you want to use it for what you state above, it might be better to just include a standalone modal script (through your templates index.php) and use it that way. You don't need Modalizer for that.
