I keep getting this error when trying to install ReReplacer to my joomla site.

JFolder::create: Could not create directory
Warning! Failed to move file.


any ideas what is going on?

Have you got FTP turned on in your joomla configuration?
Do you get the error when installing other (non-NoNumber) extensions?

I'm just trying to do the basic unloader in the extensions install area. How would i check to see if FTP is good? It should be, but its always nice to check. And no I have not tried any other extensions

Go into the Global Configuration (link is on the admin home page) and then to the Server tab.
There enable FTP and enter the right ftp login details.

JFTP::login: Unable to login
JFTP::write: Unable to use passive mode
JFTP::delete: Bad response
JFTP::write: Unable to use passive mode
An Error has occurred! Unable to open configuration.php file to write!

Do i have to have FTP enabled to use this plugin?

Well, your problem is not with the extension but with your setup!
If you are not going to use ftp, you will have to make sure all folders have the necessary read/write permissions.

I guess im not really understanding why i cant just use the normal install under extensions? I'm not in a position right now to be able to edit those kinda of things

As said, if you can't install any extensions (also other 3rd party extensions), then there are problems with the folder permissions and or server settings.

You can try the manual installation for ReReplacer. See the INSTALL.txt in the zip.

This is a pretty major client i am dealing with so i am going to have t wait until the main server tech comes back. I don't want to mess anything up. I haven;t had this problem with any other extensions that i have installed?

sorry i what i meant the first time was that i have not tried any of your extensions, yes i do have some third party extensions installed on the site

Well, then, as explained here:

The ReReplacer package installs/updates all necessary extensions, like components, module and plugins. (If the package contains plugins, they will be published after install, so you won't have to do that by hand.)

The package makes use of a special installer. This checks to see if it needs to install the extension(s) or update them. So you can just run this package through the Joomla installer without having to uninstall the older version.

You might experience problems during install for certain setups. In that case you can install the extension(s) manually. Please read the INSTALL.txt in the package...

Like i said, this is a major client, so i will wait until my main server tech gets back. Once he come back i will ok everything with him and have him do the manual instal
