Hi,
i am trying to search and replace some of my HTML tags.
to be more specific, i am searching for :
</span><ul>
and would like to replace it with </span><div><ul>

this doesnt happen.
any idea why?

it should match the html in your output exactly. If there is whitespace between the tags, it will not match.
Best to use regular expressions.
Also you replacement will add an opening tag. You also need to add a closing tag to not break your html structure. Try this to do it in one replacement:
Search:
(</span>\s*)(<ul.*?</ul>)

Replace:
\1<div>\2</div>
