Just upgraded to the newest version of sourcerer. I have no problem using JavaScript, and it all works like a charm. However I have big problems getting php to work, and I have two questions.

A simple statement like echo "hello World"; is working properly. But the following does not generate any output:
{source}
[[?php
$currentYear = (int) date("Y");
echo $currentYear."*";
?]]
{/source}

This code does generate output, but only the "*" character, not "2009*" as expected. Am I missing something here?

The second issue is that I have not been able to get the debugger to work. I turned on the debugging in the plugin, and when I get the statement that sourcerer removed php because of an error, it tells me that I must be logged in "in the front end". I am logged in to Joomla, as a super admin, and I look at the source using the same browser, but it still tells me that message. Is there another meaning to "front end" that I am not aware off? What are exact steps to take to see debugging code?

The php is working fine in my setup.

To see the php debugging you have to log in to the front end as administrator. So not in the administrator, but in the site itself.

If you have no ligin option in your website, just go to:
index.php?option=com_user&view=login

I've also a problem to get the 'php' on the screen. A second emtpty php-tack was the way to manage it.
