I need help 2 questions modulesany/custo 2 Years ago
Hello,
A nube here sry. My first question is I want to be able to everything around on my page, is modules anywhere the program I need? Or just tweek a little CSS? I'm really looking for something like Dreamweaver or an equivalent... I want to add modules above the header like links date/time.
My second question is how do I install modules anywhere/customenu?
Do I install upload the whole folder to my server? Then what I don't know how to run the manualsql, I do have databases, but no clue how to manually run. I tried uploading from admin area and no help, just a bunch of errors when pointing to the _install.php file.
Any help would be appreciated!

Before looking into extensions for Joomla, learn how Joomla works. You are trying to solve stuff that isn't a problem in the first place.
So learn how the basics of Joomla work (what are extensions, how do templates work, content, menu's, modules, etc.).
Otherwise, hire a Joomla specialist to do the work for you.

Wow, I'm not that much of a nube, and I am in College for Computer Information Systems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can someone just please tell me (without being rude) how to install modules anywhere/customemnu?
I know how operate joomla, manage content, modify CSS, templates, and so forth, I'm not an idiot as you toned your message. PETER!

Or, perhaps I should use extensions (like I have in the past) that come with better instructions from the programmer!

I FTP'd my files into my root folder, I tried to upload and install, I tried from directory everything, there is just something I'm missing.

So the whole file package is in my root folder, now what?

I wasn't meaning to be rude.

You say yourself that you are a nube. ANd you are trying to make Joomla into Dreamweaver. Doesn't make sense to me. Have no idea what you mean.

CustoMenu and Modules Anywhere can be installed via the normal Joomla installe, as explainedhere:
www.nonumber.nl/customenu/installing (and on all other extension pages).

And again, what you want to do can probably be done by making.changing the template you use (if it doesn't already have module positions in the places you need).

And you are a Computer Information Systems student but have no clue on how to run manual queries?

By the questions you ask (and statements you make) it comes across you DON'T know much about Joomla and how it works. So hence me saying you should first get your head wrapped around the basics before trying fancy stuff.

Peter, It just seemed that you didn't want to help me. When I dais nube I meant new to your services, I do understand Joomla, I guess I don't understand extensions. I am a freshman at Devry, and I haven't yet taken any database courses, but they are coming.
I would really like to just get custommenu to operate.
Could you give me some pointers? Do I install from your url? My directory? What is the easiest way?

I uploaded the unzipped file (custommenu v-2.4) into my joomla root directory, where would I go from there? I tried running th _installer.php file through my browser and no luck.
I do have databases in mysql, through windows host.

This is how you install extensions in Joomla:
- Log into your administrator
- Go to Extensions >> Install/Uninstall
- Under "Upload Package File" click on the browse button
- Browse to the zip file and select it
- Click on "Upload & Install File"
