Possible extension to an extension? 1 Year, 11 Months ago
Hi Peter,
Have downloaded a number of your extensions and am impressed I must admit.

I have just uploaded the Articles anywhere extension an dfound it works a treat however i yearn for something that you may be able to help me with and also enhance the way the inserted article can be accessed and appears.

I recall ages ago using MS Front Page [ of all things] I used to be able to include page transitional effects especially with in those dreaded I-frames.
Even though rejected in the main by the design world the iframe effect of lining to pages with in An included page with out having to download the entire site every time has some terrific appeal especially if the site is generally image heavy.
So...

Is it possible to extend the Articles Aany Where to include the capacity to set up a "inserted pages " area in a standard content page and use it like you would an Iframe, thus avoiding the need to download the enrire site for every link clicked on. Only changing the specified area.??

example:
on an article page I have 3 links. To the right in a table I have the Articles Anywhere extensions tags which shows the landing page for that article.
When I click on any of the three links the inserted article only changes to correspond with the selection.

Hope this makes sense and is easy to put together especially if the inserted page can include in it's html the transitional effects.... [ maybe scoll bars etc etc as well as an option?]

In other words an embeded iframe [internal site use only.] might be a better way of describing it...
I feel that once shown in it's full glory thie extension to the extension would be absolutely fabulous...and have a reasonable demand...

I think you are looking for some AJAXifying extension. Not sure there is one at present for Joomla 1.5.

I guess anything that makes the Articles Anywhere tags an active variable in the "static" page.
I am not that familiar with tech nor what it would take to do....
but I get the impression that you would need to use the {articles}page id{/articles} where the "page id/link" is a variable, with a default landing page. So that any link on the page would call on the variable....[the target for the hyperlink for example could be ...whatever]
any ways I do not realy know the tech so I leave that to the experts....transitional effects, scrolling could be a lesser priority and somethign for further dev later....etc

This is a bit too specific to build into Articles Anywhere.

What you could do is use Sourcerer to make a bit of php that will place the dynamic {article} tag. Then you can make the id reliant on the url or anything else.

If you mean javascript, yes. But not Java. Joomla runs on PHP.
