I found the problem. Pretty stupid, seeing I had the same problem in another extension I fixed this week.
The problem was the use of the variable name 'class' in javascript, which IE and Safari don't approve of. So changing the variablename to 'class_name' fixes it.

I'll publish the fixed version later today.
