K2 is a content editor for Joomla that is growing in abilities and popularity. getk2.org/

It uses a separate category structure from the core com_content so it would be awesome to be able to limit/exclude modules based on K2 categories and items the way you can with com_content categories and items.

I'm also K2 fan, I can't wait for this to be done, as I'm experiencing some issues with modules not appearing.

Check out FLEXIcontent. It is very powerful and uses the core category database to store its categories. Which means all extensions that do stuff with sections/categories will work for FLEXIcontent too.

First of all - what a fantastic collection of tools for Joomla!

I came here because of the Advanced Module Manager plugin. And registered in the forum to find out more about K2 support.

Yes, I know about Flexicontent, but the sites I am working on uses K2... So I would like to add my voice to those that would like to see support for the K2 component and the articles/categories.

I am sure that Fotis from JoomlaWorks is willing to let you know all you need

RocketTheme already have some of their components and modules working for K2. Maybe there are some tips to find in their extensions.

I am not a programmer, but I am willing to help chasing down information for you if it helps!

K2 support will be coming, but not just yet.
However, the next version (probably out beginning of next week) will have the extra option to assign by url parts.
So in most cases that will mean you can control it quite accurately. You just need to know what needs to be in the url to match your wishes. The url matches will be done through regular expressions. Which means you can make very smart url matches.

Good news. Seriously, the functionality in your plugin is the kind of features I would like to see in the core of Joomla.

Would you be interested if they asked you to use it? I am thinking about starting a campaign...

Hi Peter, thanks for the work you are doing, invaluable additions to Joomla core!

I'm here to add my 2 cents acting as a pimp for K2

You correctly cite flexicontent, very promising indeed, but IMHO still not there yet, it still lacks a lot of (planned) features and it's rather slow in development. Maybe with Joomla 1.6 it will show its full potential.
There is jseblod cck which offers similar features and its more mature...
but in terms of maturity, community support, 3rd party extensions, k2 has no rival as of now!!
it does not integrate with core content, true, but offers a lot out-of-the-box.

Just a question, will it work with SEF enabled? and with 3rd party components like sh404sef?

Thanks again and keep up the good work!

Almost forgot:
there is already a module for k2 v2.1 which filters according to tags, the author is looking for help to update to 2.2 and add features.

See if you find it interesting and if you can interact to avoid reworking on the same issue.

The url matches will be done on the non-sef url. So that will work regardless of what sef extension you use or have enabled.
I have the new assignment set working in the development version of ReReplacer. Will probably publish ReReplacer later today and then move on implementing the set into Advanced Module Manager (and Content Templater).

Hi,

Just to say about "3rd party extension, k2 has no rival", it's really false.

jSeblod CCK has thousand plugins and modules which work very well because it's the alone CCK to be really full compatible.

It's amazing and now the multi search criteria and list...

Cheers.
