Thanks to the author, BetterPreview is a great extension.

I had also translated BetterPreview into Chinese language (published on the download area of joomlagate.com).

However, I found a small bug on v1.6.2 of BetterPreview.

At backend, if I hover mouse to BetterPreview button, there will show a tooltip pop-up. In that tooltip window, the Chinese translations can't be shown properly, they were shown up as unreadable symbols.

I think, the reason is: you fortgot to force the tooltip read and display characters in utf-8 encoding.

Hope you will fix this soon.

Thanks.

I cannot reproduce these problems. What strings are not displayed properly?
Are you sure the ini file is utf-8 encoded?
Test by adding some Chinese stuff in the English ini file and see what happens in English admin.

I can confirm that my language files are all utf-8 encoded.

And my Joomla database also use utf8_general_ci as collation.

And my Joomla sample content articles are also in Chinese language and utf-8 encoded. These texts can be shown as proper Chinese characters at both backend and frontend pages.

Now, I made a new test: switch the backend language between Chinese and English, then take srcreenshot respectively. One page is the Article Manager list, one page is eidting page of one article. So I got 4 imagse. See attachment. I think you can find the strings that BetterPreview can't show properly in the tooltip window: one part is the BetterPreview's own string, like "Article:"(I had translated it into Chinese in language file), one part is the article Title and Menu item title, which belongs to Joomla database.

Oh, I can't add attachment here?

Thanks, I got your email and downloaded the dev v1.7.0 and tested it.

Good news: now the Chinese characters in the tooltip window can be shown up properly !

Bad news: it seems this new version can NOT recoganize some pages, it supports the articles OK, but on Newsfeeds and Weblinks pages (backend), this button links to website home page, instead of corresponding newsfeeds pages and weblinks pages at frontend.

You know, the fresh installation of Joomla with sample data already have Newsfeeds and Weblinks menu items created. So I think BetterPreview should recoganize them at backend and give me the correct link, not just the home page (joomla root).

Thanks.

yeah, the new version is still in development. So it isn't ready yet.
But Newsfeeds and Weblinks didn't work in previous version, did they/
It does show the links ok if there is a menu item available that matches.

No, no matter I open any page belongs to Newsfeeds or Weblinks component at backend, the preview button always link to home page. You know, at least one page among them surely matches one of the menu item at frontend.
