Is there a way to preview articles that are not yet published?

BetterPreview will show the category if the article is not yet published. This because Joomla will give an error page if you try to view an unpublished article. So there isn't really a way to do this via BetterPreview.

You can use the big Preview button (next to the save button), but that will not call on any plugins. So it is not a real view of what the article will finally look like.

I think I'm confused. I'm evaluating this plug-in before donating. I am new to JOOMLA. I was hoping to be able to preview an article before having to publish it and having it show up as a navigation element. My understanding is that Articles are in fact pages. I've downloaded and read the user guide, but I don't see any step by step examples of how to use it. It's installed, I just cannot figure out the specifics of using it. If it doesn't preview articles, then what does it preview? I keep getting a 404 error. My article is not attached to any categories or sections...is this part of the problem? Sorry to bug.

When editing an article, you will see 2 preview buttons.
The one in the top bar is to 'preview' the site itself. That will only work with published articles.

Then you also have the big Preview button (next to the save button). You can use that to preview the article itself in a modal popup window. That WILL work if the article is not published yet.
