Just come across this extension, and like it a lot.

I am currently building a website which is heavily centred on JoomSuite Resources (which allows me to create custom content types and all sorts - I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone reading this).

JS Resource uses admin definable 'Types' (i.e. custom content types) with a wide selection of fields to choose from. Submission via these Types are held in JS Resources own Section and Category structure (i.e. not using joomla core com_content).

I have found that if I use the JS Resource HTML field (which uses the core advanced article submission box), the Content Template button DOES appear and it DOES work. The only problem for me is that I can't choose which JS Resource Sections and Categories a given template will appear in, because only core Sect/Cat are selectable.

Is there any chance of you adding JS Resource compatibility? That would be amazing!

Hmmm, it's pretty 'off the standard'. Because then I would have to look into supporting all kinds of 3rd party content extensions.
But I'll look into it to see if it can easily be done...

Installing JoomSuite Resources is too much hassle for me to look into it.

1) The extension is not free (only trial)
2) The extension is encrypted (So I can not easily see how sections / categories are built up)
3) The extension needs ionCube, which I currently do not have installed
4) Probably a bunch of other stuff on the way that will fight me to look into it.

Seeing this is all not within the GPL licence, I have chosen not to look into this any further.

1) A localhost licence is available as is a renewable 15 day 'tryout' licence. Very Simple to install - Install Resources Component via Joomla, install Licence Manager Component via Joomla, install licence via LM component - done.

2) It seems only the really central code is encrypted in order to maintain a lot of flexibility - perhaps the files you'd need to access are among the many that are not encrypted?

3) Fair enough - pretty easy to install though, and then it's there for future use if ever required?

4) Equally fair enough - you've gotta want to do it!

Thanks for taking a look anyway.

Regarding the non-GPL licence, I guess everyone has their own view on this. My view is that there just isn't anything else out there which allows such customisation of content and flexibility in presentation, especially if you want users to be able to access your custom content submit forms from the front end - so if it's non GPL so be it, especially since they make it easy for us to test the product fully before purchasing a full licence.

Anyway, no harm in asking!

Totally agree with "geotech890"

My two cents...
JS resource is really amazing and growing. I like the whole concept, though it uses a separate categories system. There are some similar approaches out there, but Resources has the lead in flexibility and expandebility.

Your ContentTemplater idea is on the same level! I really would love to see your support.

I read about it in your change log... but unfortunately had no sparetime to have a try. Did you get it to work?!?

If not, or there are any problems... the russian developers are really helpful and kind people... they are very interested to promote, extend and improve their user base and reputation. I guess they would support you with any kind of help and documentation!!!

TIA!

Hi rexkramer

Peter (admin) has been kind enough to add to the code and try out some JS Resources compatibility, with me testing it out on my development server.

It's coming along well - you can pre-define what JS categories are selected when the CTemplate is used in the front end, just like you could for Joomla core.

But I wondered whether Peter could take it further than that and make it possible for the user to make category choices as normal, but only be presented with CTemplates according to the section they are submitting to. So, if they submit to one section they are presented with one lot of CTemplates, and if they submit to another section it could be a different set of CTemplates, as appropriate.

Peter nearly has this working properly, so it's looking good. Watch this space! (or the changelog

Sorry, I didn't update this thread after going into JoomSuite support

As said above, I'm still in the testing phase with the "only publish for" option.

Since version 0.3.2 you can set predefined JoomSuite Resources Sections/Categories.
