somehow I cannot make it run. Setup of the component seems to be ok. In the component I added templates (items â€" it's the same, right?). It's displayed in the drop-down list under the editor, but I cannot really chose it â€" first problem. If chosen, 'loading template' is visible for a second, then again the default:“ - template -“ appears. Second problem: I cannot see Content Templater under menus/chose menu type. I should be attached here to a certain menu point, right? Can somebody help?

THere should not be a menu type for Content Templater.

You can load the templates through the dropdown button under your editor.
If it does not load, you probably have some javascript conflict. What editor (and version) are you using?

After reading more in your forum I'm not sure anymore if Content Templater is what I need... I'm want to create a template for registered frontend users. I'd like it to be automatically loaded if they chose 'add item' and their item to be automatically saved into the right category.
It's not what Content Templater does, right? There seems to be some confusion about the functionality...

No, that's not what Content Templater does.

It can set settings and set (add) it's content in the editor. But it does not force the article to be placed in certain categories or in whatever way. You can still alter the settings and content after you have chosen a Content Template.

and the next problem coming: deinstallation causes a severe problem with 'pages and items' component. The component does not run properly anymore. What bores me indefinitely. I worked many hours on it. As a workaround I reinstalled content templater and disabled it. Pages and items works again, but despite disabled you can see content templater loading the templates...
Do you know about deinstallation problems?

Content Templater has a component and an editor button plugin.
You must disable/uninstall the editor button plugin (editors-xtd) too.

I tried one more time, this time deleting the templates first that I created in Content Templater - same result. Content Templater must be installed, even if disabled, unless the other component doesn't work properly anymore. That means: the templates created in 'item and pages' are displayed, but only in a raw form, no CSS layout. At the end of the frontend page error report:
