Mootools problem 2 Years ago
I have installed Joomla 1.5.15 with J960 from webamoeba.co.uk which doesn't use Mootools.

I have installed only NoNumber extensions (Advanced Module Manager, CacheCleaner and CustoMenu) plus JCE editor.

After I entered couple entries in the CustoMenu module, my browser freezes and alerts that media/system/js/mootools.js has blocked the browser and that I should stop the script.
Module sometimes just freezes the browser for about 5 to 10 seconds and then it's finally loaded.

Anybody experienced anything similar?

Thanks, Elvis
Elvis

The CustoMenu module settings are a bit heavy on mootools because of the amount of options (20 items x multiple options) and the options to show/hide them.
This should be lighter in the last version of CustoMenu (2.5.0). Are you using that version?

Also, what browser are you using?

I'm using CustoMenu 2.5.0 and Firefox 3.5.7
I tried to work in Chrome and it's better. Still not perfect, but better (I get around 2 seconds freeze)
.
Good enough to work with Chrome in backend and see the results in the Firefox (because of the Firebug it's "a must" browser for me).

And btw, I love and use most of your extensions, they are really the best out there, providing many things Joomla doesn't, so congratulations and keep on with excellent work you do. I've been also recommending to other users on Joomla Forum to use your extensions, with them you can solve many of the questions people are asking there.

Thanks for your answer!

I am glad you like my extensions And thanks for promoting them.

I use Firefox for virtually everything too. The screen freezes for about 5 seconds for me too. That is the time it takes for mootools to handle all the effects on the different html elements.
But it doesn't 'crash' on me with alerts... Maybe that happens when you have certain firefox plugins installed that make it take even longer

It's true that my Firefox is loaded with many add-ons, so this could add to the problem.
But like I said, in Google Chrome it's much better so this ok for me.

I to am experiencing the same issue and I'm using the latest version of both FF and the menu mod. The delay is very evident and my browser isn't bogged down with add-ons. There is more to this that that unfortunately. I hope it can be corrected.

thanks for the great product, keep up the development.

I could remove the show/hide options for the 1-5, 6-10, etc items. But that will only marginally speed it up.
The main problem is just the amount of options:
