Goodbye Joomla 1.5, Hello Joomla 3

Joomla! 3 R3ADY? In this post I will inform you about the status of the Joomla 3.0 support for the different NoNumber extensions. And what happens to the Joomla 1.5 support.

Support for Joomla! 1.5 ends in September 2012

Joomla has stopped support for the CMS Joomla 1.5 in April 2012. Major security fixes will be done until release of 3.0 in September 2012.

I will stop the Joomla 1.5 support for all NoNumber extensions at the end of September 2012.

Bottleneck fixed, all NoNumber extensions faster

Faster I found that all NoNumber extensions that were called on on a page were creating a lag/delay in the page load time.

Every extension was adding 200 - 300ms to the page load (depending on server specs). When only using 1 or 2 extensions, this is not very noticeable. But when using many or all NoNumber extensions, the delays would quickly pile up and could cause the page to load 5 seconds slower!

This has now been fixed!

The move to FREE/PRO versions

Since last week - April 7th 2012 - I have moved from offering my extensions completely for free to a subscription model with FREE and PRO versions.

Some thoughts about the (heated) discussions around my move to a sales model.

Today, on the 6th of April 201, I present you with a completely new website.

The logo, styling and website structure have changed. I hope for the better :)

Also I have taken on a new sales model based on FREE and PRO versions.

Plugin order is important

However, understanding plugin ordering can save your site from problems.

No more php 5.2 support - move on to php 5.3

Moving on with PHP 5.3

All NoNumber extensions require php 5.3+. As it says in the requirements list, you need php 5.3+.

This does not mean the extensions will definitely not work under php 5.2. But it does mean there is a good chance you'll come across problems. And that I can no longer offer support for setups still running on php 5.2.

Php.net has announced its end of support for php 5.2 some time ago. So php 5.2 is end-of-life!
